“Domestic violence cases require a unique skillset and time investment that cannot be achieved by an attorney alone. A trauma-informed, team-based approach can yield dividends for the survivor and the case outcomes.”

We recognize that domestic abuse cases are some of the hardest to win. Oftentimes, survivors have extensive but disorganized evidence that may be difficult to analyze, organize, or make sense of. Survivor Resource Group is skilled at making sense of evidence, condensing materials, and acting as the intermediary between the attorney and the survivor or other outside expert.

We solve for several issues attorneys may have:

  1. Evidence Management and Organization: Survivors often have voluminous evidence, but the evidence may be disorganized, disjointed, or difficult to make sense of. We serve as the point of contact to collect, organize, and label the evidence in a format that is accessible for legal teams and outside experts working with domestic abuse and coercive control issues.

  2. Emotional Support: Survivors often experience overwhelm, fear, and distress navigating family court. We offer more accessible support for the survivor than what the attorney may have capacity for.

  3. Daily Communications: Survivors may need support with daily needs communications to professionals, experts, and her co-parent. We recognize that communications are time-sensitive and high-stakes. Survivor Resource Group has capacity to respond to survivors within short time frame.

  4. Testimony Preparation: Survivors present very differently in re-victimizing settings like a courtroom. Survivor Resource Group coaches survivors on the language and presentation required to successfully navigate direct and cross-examination.

  5. Evidence Selection: We work with attorneys to select the most compelling and credible DV and coercive control evidence for exhibits.

We alleviate many paint points for attorneys by acting as the point of contact and intermediary for the survivor. We take daily calls, review communications, organize evidence, and complete narratives for custody investigations. We index evidence including text and Talking Parents logs into a shared repository for the attorney to access as hearings approach. We select evidence that we think is strongest for hearings and trial. This allows the attorney to focus on the legal aspects of the case.

Our goal is to alleviate daily tasks that survivors need help with but with greater efficiency and at a lower cost. We work with attorneys to send summaries (weekly or bi-weekly) of the action items completed, current needs of the survivor, and future action items. This summary helps the attorney prioritize how to navigate client needs as well as the legal aspects of the case.
