Dr. Jenny Lohner, Ed.D., is a Colorado-based writer, domestic violence survivor, mother, and educator. Her desire to help survivors came from her own experience in family court where she lacked the resources and support to navigate multiple custody evaluations over a two-year period.
Jenny learned that her narrative and her evidence were her only voice. She skillfully wrote her narrative and organized her evidence in a way that garnered the attention of outside experts working on her case who noted the precision and quality of her materials. This feedback inspired Jenny to want to help other survivors navigate custody evaluations and cases involving coercive control and domestic abuse.
In 2024, Jenny founded Survivor Resource Group, a practice dedicated to providing comprehensive support services for survivors navigating high-stakes custody evaluations. Jenny believes no survivor should walk alone during a Parental Responsibilities Evaluator (PRE) or Child and Family Investigator (CFI) evaluation. As a survivor herself, Jenny strives to be trauma-informed in her approach, diligent in capturing details that matter, and honest in narrating client histories and current circumstances. She understands the pain of a system that silences survivors and children and aims to give a voice to the voiceless.
Jenny is a proud mom of three wonderfully brave and resilient children who remind her of the joy in the ordinary. She is an avid runner, below-average cook, Michigander, and loyal friend; educator, researcher, and special education expert; a graduate of The University of Michigan (Go Blue!), B.A.; Colorado State University, M.Ed.; University of Colorado, Ed.D.
